Default 2000 ds650 timing chain problem..

hi everyone.. a mechanic told me my timing chain could of been loose cause when i gave the bike throttle it would spit the gas out through the carb instead of exhaust so i opened up the top and my chain was a little loose so i loosened the tensioner screw and pushed it back it and my chain got tight but i heard you have to line up the indents on the sprokets to the edge of the casing but i dont know how to turn the sprokets or rotate them ?? any help would be glady apprecitated..

your timing is off a tooth.excessive chain slack from wear and tear.the tensioner only takes up but so much slack until the chain stretches more.there a cover on the throttle side on bottom of motor that will acess the flywheel to turn engine over with wrench.had a couple ds650s over the yrs got good working on them.been awhile though lol
