Yamaha Moto 4 YFM200DXU - Clutch or Gearbox ?????
G'day All,
I offered to repair a Moto 4, I am a Mechanic by trade and thought it would be an easy fix......but i havent worked on a quad before. i was told it was slipping out of gear/no drive
Symptoms at first - on take off the quad lost drive after about 5mtrs, no clunk,no grinding just lost drive, i assumed it was a clutch problem. So i removed both clutches and found the Centrifugal Clutch to have .5mm left on clutch shoes (min 1.5 on specs) and clutch packs to be 4mm thick (min 1.8 on specs)
I understand the Cent Clutch is low, but my thinking is for the cluthe(s) to stop working they would basically have to striped back with no shoe left, Is this right???
Further inspection of the gearbox, (with cutch packs removed) i found i could not get all gears, i can however select all gears by putting hand pressure on the clutch pack drive shaft, Is this normal???
Now im stuck, im thinking put it back together and drive it again to see what happens. Any help is appreciated .
Cheers
