Could I change the front differential in my 2000 Big Bear 400 4x4?

It should be possible, but you would need the wiring harness and whatever else is involved in the selectable differential. Then you would need to confirm the gear ratios of the front and rear diffs, if they are not the same, when running in 4wd, you run the risk of "binding" the drivetrain with the front and back wheels trying to run at different speeds, which would wreck something in short order. Might be cheaper to just find a newer quad with the features you want, less work, and set up to work correctly from the factory.

I'm just kind of thinking out loud. I've seen a few 2001 and newer complete Big Bear 400 4x4 front differentials which are selectable 2x4 to 4x4 on ebay and other classifieds. I wasn't sure if they would fit in my 2000 Big Bear 400 4x4. I should have bought the Warn 424 kit when it was available. I kept putting it off and then they stopped making them.
