It is from first gear, it makes the sound that it has switched(click) but if you give it gas it just revs the engine and the bike does move. If you hold the handle there while giving it gas it will usually go into reverse.

so lets make sure im on thinking the right way. when you throw it back to reverse is the handle all the way in place where it should be to engage to reverse? Can you feel it engaging? When engaged does it slip out of gear?
Howabout when your normally riding it foward. when downshifting from 2nd gear to first does it shift perfect? or does it slip alittle

There is adjustment in the forward reverse lever somewhere there......I had to do it on my timberwolf and they are basically the same. I had to adjust it a few times before I got it right but if your mechanically minded its not hard at all. Follow the linkage until you see where you have adjustment nuts and you will figure it out.
