Default Engine and Gear Oils

I have a 2011 Yamaha Big Bear 400 4x4 IRS and was woundering what engine and gear oils would you use in your Yamaha? Amsoil, Mobil1, Lucas, Yamalube(way pricey)? Any suggestions would be helpful.

If you are planning on cold weather riding, then you will want a synthetic for better cold starting and oil flow to engine parts when cold (really important when its below freezing)
Otherwise, all the oils you listed are spendy, Amsoil is a really popular brand, I have used Valvoline ATV oil for years (Walmart) and there are many other good brands out there as well. Depends on if you wan full syn, blended, or reg dino oil, and what kind of riding you do (heavy work, recreation trail, extreme cold weather, etc.) Everyone has their favorite oil, and will tell you to buy this and not that, but as long as it is JASO wet clutch rated, it will work fine.

Year around, pretty rough trail riding and mudding....it doesn't get below freezing in Tennessee very often.

For a milder climate like Tennessee ( I live in northern Minnesota, 20 below is not uncommon !!), a good brand oil like Valvoline ATV or similar make would work fine for you.

The sad part is Yamalube is the only one thats not full Synthetic of the four.

I use 0w-40 full Synthetic, it covers the coldest and hottest days,Just Google "Synthetic vs Conventional oil" and try to find one advantage a conventional or blend oil has over full synthetic and you will find none except price.
