engine swap?

engine swap?
As some of you may know, I have a 2003 yamaha warrior 350. It needs an engine and I'm not willing to pay $800+ for an engine. So I started thinking, what should I do? How about a blaster engine? I can pick up a good running blaster for $600 or $700 and then sell the rest of the bike without a motor for $200. So it would cost me $400 or $500. How hard do you think this would be to do? The engine should fit since its smaller, not too much wiring since its kick start, and I have a welder so I should have no problem mounting it. It should make the quad close to original speed. Can anyone think of any problems I may have? Do you think it would be as easy as I think? All reply's are appreciated.

i dont really think that would help because the 350 was made for the warrior because of its torque and horsepower but the 200cc wouldn't be suited for the warrior. Remember the warrior is heavy and the blaster is light.

In all honesty dude, $300-$400 might seem like a lot of money but think about it. All of the time your going to put into finding a donor blaster, taking the motor out of it, modifying your frame to accept the blaster motor, making custom parts to make the motor fit up, not to mention trying to get it to work with your warriors intake, controls, electrical system and what ever else. Your time has to be worth something. Search a little more, ebay, cragislist, classifieds.
Seems like a lot of extra work and potentially, it could cost you just as much as dropping in a running, used Warrior motor all said and done. You could also look into rebuilding your blown motor.

yeah I agree with you, might as well get a warrior 350 engine because modifying the 200cc is more money. Might as well try and save up money to $800 dollars instead of trying to find the easy way out.

When from what you guys are telling me, it sounds like a bad idea. Thanks for the help, I think I'm going to keep an eye out for a cheap 350 motor on craigslist and eBay. Just in case I see one, is a raptor 350 motor pretty much the same?
If I can't find anything, I think I'm going to wait till spring and just take apart my motor to see how much the parts will coast. I when to a local ATV mechanic And got a price of $1300 to fix my engine. If thats the case, I could buy another running warrior for the same price.
