Default 1987 Yamaha Motto 4 Champ 100CC

I have a 1987 Yamaha Champ that is great shape but it has devepoled a vibrations in the transmission. You can still shift up and down thru the gears but it starts to squeal when it gets warm. I would guess this going to be a bearing problem. I have taken it to shop and they basicly wrote it off. They said the problem wasn't in the rear end or the shaft and it wasn't worth opening the tranny and they wouldn't be able to get parts anyhow. I have found used parts for it but I have no previous exprience with an ATV tranny, and I don't have a diagram or specs for the tranny but I am sure this issue is fixable.
First can you offer any advice on the problem of the vibration and what are your thoughts about an inexprienced person taking on the job. Time isn't an issue. Any info would be a help. Thanks richardn
