Default Rebuiling top end on 2000 Kodiak

I'm needing some top end work done and I would like some opinions. After some research, I could actually replace my cylinder with the 450 cylinder. The crankcase and clyider head are the same part. I just need that and a new piston and rings. All for roughly $300. Or I can have the existing bored for 5 to $600. What do you think the best option is discarding the price tag?

NEW is almost always better. Both are reasonable ways to go.
