Default Need Advice Fast!

I finaly saved up enough loot to buy a used 450 quad and have it narrowed down to 2 different local quads which I am going to buy one of them after work today. They both came down to 3200 from 3500 so the price is set.

YFZ or TRX?

2004 YFZ 450, blue, supposedly only rode a few times totalling 10*15hrs says him, the original owner. It is all stock and comes with extra full set of paddles on douglas aluminum

2005 TRX450R, kick start, supposedly low hours, rode maybe 25 times says owner who is the 2nd owner. Is black, has black nerf bars, sticker kit, rear paddles only, OEM rims powder coated black, possible kids bike?

What would you choose?

*I posted this in Yamaha Forum because there is no general section that gets enough traffic

Go with the yami because of the seller being the original owner and the bike is original. Most likely never beaten to death or at least occasionally.

Either is a good choice. i am partial to yammi, and that one sounds like it has less time on it/more reliable history. I prefer electric start but the TRX kicks easy once you get the routine down. There are about three things to check with the Yamaha as far as reliability upgrades, does it have the aluminum decompression plug? Oil squirter mod done? Does it have the resistor kit for charging the battery if the lights are off it? Of those, only the decomp plug is essential, and it is a cheap, easy fix.

Well I went with the TRX450R for a few different reasons. The Yamaha looked so clean, almost brand new, literaly BRAND NEW. It made a weird sound in the engine while idling, almost like the crank was walking or something simular sounding to that. When applying WOT the first milisecond you can hear a metal to metal sound in the engine, almost like glass on glass sounding it's so high pitched. I figured the engine was hurting so I took a pass. Even though it blew no smoke and felt really good.

The Honda ending up being quiet a gem. It was hardly ridden by the previous owners. I guess one kid got a DUI after he bought it and had to sell rightaway to the owner I bought it from which was a younger kid about 21 which couldnt afford to keep it. I could tell he didnt trash it. All the stock tires and paddle tires have the new hairs sticking off them. These are the original tires too...

It had a 6 pack rack I had to replace immediatly. Picked up some shock skins and Im about to swap the red grips out tonight for black. Bike is hella fast, we rode all weekend. Couldnt be more satisfied. Great deal at 3200 huh?

don't let the kicker spring back up... if you do it will blow the entire gear out the back of the case

When you kick start the quad, and you just let your foot off of it once it's all the way down... and it springs back.. if you do that alot( 3*4 times )it will blow the kicker gear out the back of the case

That honda looks sweet, we don't have much for dunes in my area but that dune riding sure looks fun.
