4 strokes are much more user friendly. a 2 stroke takes a lot more skill to ride well.

The facts are too many people have had bad experiences with 2 strokes, be cause of ignorance.

bad experience = less sales

2 strokes are great, half the displacement of a 4 STROKE, AND MAKE THE SAME POWER. A properly tuned and operated 2 stroke can last many years. There are lots of lightly tuned 2 strokes that will beat most new atvs they make.

You can buy a really nice bike in 4-poke, and spend 3-5 times the cash to make it fast, and if you mess up, it will cost you 3-4 times the cash to fix it. But the nice part of it they are idiot proof, and that is why they sell. Stupid people can't break them.

Who ever said you should only buy a banshee if you want to race is way off. This is america, BUY WHAT YOU LIKE, and if you want to dune or trail ride there great, and the banshee will smoke alot of atv's out there, but can be hard to tune. Yes there fast, but you can kill yourself on a moped too. If its gonna be your first bike, see if you can find a friend that has one, and try it out, you might love it, might hate it.

if you want a fun 2 stroke, 1985-1992 QUADRACER, or a Honda 250r, or even a Kawasaki Tecate, but those are hard to find, and hard to find parts for. There are plenty of companys that make parts for both the honda and the suzuki.

I have 2 quadracers, and have owned a Scrambler and a Blaster, and loved them all.

Default I reitterate....

Got my Fat A$$ out and rode the Blaster again this weekend (first time this year since it was down with clutcha dn leak issues). 2 Tiny mods and this thing will scare me to death sometimes (bored 60 over and a Fatty and silncer). I couldn't get more than 3rd gear out of it this weekend. The riding areas were very limited in length/distance. I love my 2 stroke! Some killer little jumps and drops available though. Launches like a rattlesnake! I don't think I ever got to sit and just ride. I was up on the pegs the whole time.! Man my legs are sore. Certainly no "monky butt" this time. Get one while they're stilll available!

At 14 yrs old I'd bet there are a few, more efficient, more powerful 2-stroke quads in your future. Won't mix oil and probably won't be so easy to rebuild at home but they'll be fast & clean.
