1992 Yamaha big bear 400
I have a Yamaha big bear 400 and I have a problem and I need help I was driving it and she just shut off and I tried electric start but it just whines and won’t turn over so I tried the pull cord and it has no compression at all what so ever so I need some help and I would really appreciate all the help I get

For the electric starter to stop spinning the engine and no compression, there would have to be a catastrophic failure inside the engine. Are you sure the pull start is actually turning the engine over? As a loose flywheel may allow both pull start and electric start to disengage from the crankshaft. If it is this, remove the engine cover behind the pull start and find out what damage to flywheel and crank tapers has occurred. If the piston is going up and down but no compression, take the head and cylinder off to find out why you have lost compression. With either job, get the workshop manual, this gives torque settings and wear limits for components, vital when working on an engine.
