Ok, I bought a 99 Warrior a couple of months ago for 1,500. Very good shape. the only problems were worn out bearings in the axle carrier (not bad and still very ridable), needed clutch cable adjusted and lubed. It already had a FMF pipe, drop in K&N, and a BAHA swingarm skidplate. I started by changing oil, using a K&N recharging kit, lubing all of the alumites, cleaning, and having the local Yama shop look it over. I've rode it pretty hard and everything seems extremely strong and in good working order. Now, I've just ordered a Moose jet kit, Renthal sprockets, Regina chain, new rear bearings, seals, and spacer.
In about a month I'm gonna order a Pro Design K&N clamp on kit, drill out my air box lid and put in filter plugs, ITP T-9 wheels, ITP RAZR tires.
Any other worthwhile mods with out tearing into my engine? Please no shocks and A arm recomendations. I don't jump, not going to, and I'm not dumping 500 - 2,000 for shocks. Engine/drivetrain upgrades only.
If you haven't done so already you better hurry up and change those rear axle bearings before they leave you out on the trail. A billett rear bearing carrier with tapered bearings is a very good investment on any Yamaha quad. Without one you may be replacing rear axle bearings at least once a year depending on how often you ride, how hard you ride and how much water you go thru.

Yeah dude.......I ordered them yesterday. That, and new sprockets and chain. They were worn down. I'm hoping to get a response gain out of those. I decided to wait on installing my jet kit until I order my Pro Design. I'm going to eliminate my airbox lid, and I'm pretty sure I'll need to rejet anyways.
Will a cam benefit me enought to spend a weekend in side my engine?
It's a good idea to wait to do the jetting after you get your airbox like you want it, cause that will throw your jetting way off.
The cam is a good mod. That area has been discussed thoroughly in mechanicock's post about warrior upgrades that is still going. It is real easy to install a cam. You could do it in a few hours and only have to remove the head to have the new valve springs installed.

The cam is a good install. You only have to take the head off to replace the valve seals. You can put the cam in with the head on. Just take the cam cover and cam chain tensioner off.
You can change the cam easily; just by removing the front plastics for easier access. Even if you do not get a new cam, pull your intake and exhaust valve covers and check your clearances.
