If It's a blaster subject matter I'm interested too. I think the Stock stuff is around 18hp isn't it?

Looking it up on WIKI I found 17hp. But in my memory I had 18....Not sure why.

One hp is a pretty big difference (over 5% different) in the lower hp ranges. That's why a pipe can make such a difference.

I see modified Blasters producing some 38 hp numbers. I'm having a hard time believing those figures. I suppose they're possible, but what a huge difference.....more than double the horsies!

DG is not known for being a good exhaust. They are cheap and slightly better than stock. The Toomey pipe is one of the best, if not the best, (in frame) pipe you could buy for a Blaster. My buddy just put one on his Blaster and it made a huge difference in power and sounds awesome.

Big Gun is fine but they don't make 2-stroke exhaust for the Blaster.

I have read and read and read about pipes and horse power increases.

I'm not any kind of authority on this subject, but my reading leads me to the TOOMEY B1 SYSTEM completed with intake mods and jet and everything needed to maximize your gain. If you call them I bet they'll walk you through the info and help you make a good purchase.

As far as bang for the buck, I bought a rusty (but pretty decent) FMF Fatty gold series and a PowerCore 2 set-up on ebay for 80 bucks. It came with everything but the mounting flange which was available for a fair ( I guess, since I paid so little for the system) price, and the Gain was significant on my 89 Blaster which is bored 60 over. I have done no other mods, and have been told I can get even more out of it if I open up the intake and/or vent the airbox. No Jetting's been done yet either. It's a gain I didn't expect for sure.

I plan on buying the Toomey B1 system (kit) by spring and having it ready for fun. (of course I plan on buying some different wheels and tires for the rear) I'm not a top-end guy, I just love the instant power at the tip of my thumb. These little light-weight machines are fun, agile and powerful enough for me with the smallest of mods. The 89 has those small Back tires (18x9.5x8's) and I'm looking at going to some 20x10x10's That will increase the available torque, and not damge the speed to much.
