Bigger Better?
I am looking at buying a set of ITP XTR Mudlites. I have a 2007 Grizz 700.
I am curious about peoples opinion on size. I do not want to do mods to the machine other than tires.
I am thinking 26" as I have heard that with 27's I will need a clutch kit and new axles as they will break with torque on the bigger tires. However I have also heard that this was true on the older 660's and that with the new design it is no longer an issue.
So I have two questions 26" or 27" and what about width. I have been told to go wider. My father in law has a Honda and he informed me that he went 2" wider both front and back and loves it.
I know that this is question comes up often but I have not been able to locate anything in regrads to the width part.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much for the assistance

27's will be fine. They're not too big and will give you the ground clearance you wouldn't have noticed with the 26's. Anything bigger than 27's, and you should think about a clutch kit and perhaps after market axles... (I'd probably wait til you snapped one though) I've run 27's on all 3 grizzlies I've owned. Never had a problem and the powerloss isn't enough to worry about.

I agree with the red rider there... 10" in the front and 12" in the back. On a 700 you'll have no problems turning them. You're gonna love the xtr's... I've got them and have over 1500 Kms on them and still look new. Not even the small groves on the top of the middle treads show any wear. Very impressed. I went with the 26"s because I'm ridin' a 450, best investment I've ever made in tires... they're a little more expensive but you get what you pay for.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I am sold on the 27's. I have been looking around on where to buy, I am located in Saskatchewan Canada. Anyone know who may have the best prices even in the US if they ship it seems that it may still be cheaper than buying here. As well one last question in regards to size. Has anyone run the 27's on 14" rims. I hear that they handle better as less sidewall sag when cornering however I think they would have less flotation being less air volume. Any thoughts?
Thanks again everyone
