I have a 2000 Grizzly that also ran hot and vapor locked all of the time. My fan did work. I found a guy at my local dealer who actually knew something about the Grizzly,s who convinced me to reduce the size of the carb jet one size. It seems that these bikes run a bit rich with the stock jets. I also removed the 2 side covers and now the bike runs great. I can run up to about 50 mph and no more vapor locking. I would like to know what other guys are getting for top speeds from their 600 Grizzlys.

When I had stock tires on I could get her up to about 57. Now that I have the Mudlight XL she maxes out about 50 on the road. That aggressive tread pattern really slowed her down but does wonderful things for me in the mud

I love my Mudlite XL. I went with 27x12x12 on the rear and 27x9x12 on the front. They are great in the mud and you actually reverse the tires put the left on the right and the right on the left and they are awesome in the snow. Cost me about 475$ for tires and installation but it was well worth it.
