Its really not that serious. I lose paperwork all the time myself, notary republic any exchange, and you will not be held accountable, as long as said document states all official information, the UPS store has notary rep. and it only costs around three bucks. In all honesty, anybody can get a warrior dirt cheep, and most of them out there dont have paperwork, because the machine has been around for a while, if it was something fairly new I would question the issue. Just cover you @ss and you will be fine.

Usually it is pretty easy, negotiate with him till you get a price you want. Then tell him you'll pay him once you do a search on the VIN cause you don't want to be held liable for outstanding loans. If he/she gets worried or jittery your answer is solved. If they offer the VIN to you and agree your probably going to be ok. Either way it is always good to do a lien check on vehicles you plan to purchase. If the ATV was stolen I highly doubt he'd stick around long enough for you to get the VIN number or any info off of him.

I am totally unaware of the Laws in the USA but here you can be charged for possession of stolen goods but you can't be prosecuted without some kind of knowledge the goods or stolen or intent they were. Worst case scenario is you'd loose the cash. And yeah that is a biggy.
