How to identify yamaha 4 wheeler?
I have an older yamaha 2wd, mudflap says moto4 on it. Engine says 1500cm3 on it. Where might a look to find an ID plate or tag to determine year and model?
Thanks.
Also, in determining engine size... what is the 1500cm3, I'm assuming that means centimeters cubed???
Thanks again.

I'm guessing you are looking by the dipstick? That number is telling you how much oil the motor takes. 1500cc is 1.6 quarts. The motor size would be at the base of the cylinder. I'm guessing it will be in the 210-230 range. As for the ID, it would be stamped into the motor and on the frame. The ID/VIN is always stamped onto the block itself (not side covers) in a place that is easy to read. It would not be hiding under the frame or anything. Look for a flat area on the right side, top, near the rear. The motor might have been painted a few times so look closely

Its probably an '86-'88 YFM Moto 4 200. If you cant find the numbers, tell us a description about it and what color it is, we could pretty much narrow it down. Back in the day, you could only buy one color for that year model, so unless someone changed plastics you can tell what year it is that way.
