My buddy's stock z and my (ttr 225 pipped & jetted) both did over 70 so I hope a $7000 race machine will be faster

Doesn't matter what you pay for it all new machines are capped out in the 70's.

Let me edit this now and save all the whinning: all new high performance machines are capped out in the 70's.

just my .02¢

I'll wonder all day why I replied to a thread like this.

A $7000.00 race machine is not designed for top speed. How many races have you seen where they are going faster than 70? I can answer that for you, never. No, drags don't count because the YFZ is not designed for that.

I dropped a tooth on my front sprocket to gain low end. It hurt my top speed but, I could care less. If you are worrying about top speed, you either drag, don't have a quad or are too young to realize top speed is not everything.

Have a nice day.

The CR is faster for the same reasons a Dodge Viper with the V10 is faster than a Dodge truck with the V10.

There are variables that you have to consider. The weight of the bike, there is less rolling resistance with 2 narrow wheels as opposed to 4. Most importantly, the gearing and wheel circumference is different.

I am sure there are other factors but, these are the most obvious ones to me. Top speed is not real important. How quickly you can achieve a certain speed is more important. That is true in most forms of racing.
