Default Grizzly 600 tranny problems?

My friend bought a '98 600 Griz, engine runs fine but the tranny seems to slip. We took off the small boot for the breather on the belt housing, and found alot of grease inside, so we took off the belt cover and everything was greasy(someone put WAY too much grease on the clutch so it flew everywhere). So I cleaned everything up, belt sheaves, inside clutch, belt , housing ect ect. until the grease was gone. I Re-greased the clutch properly, put the belt back on and tightened the clutch nut up.
So I took it out and it still drives slow, it doesn't sound or look like the belt is slipping(with the cover off). So what could my problem be??, anyone ever have this problem?? let me know, thanks.

Did you disassemble the secondary pulley ( the driven one)? There are some buttons and a profile they ride in, which needs to be lubed as well.
The belt should probably be replaced if it was coated in grease, and was slipping on the primary sheaves.
Theres also a minimum width on the belt, and right off hand i dont have the number, but that may be part of the problem as well.

i have a 98 grizzly 600 and it seems like its staying in low gear and even when you shift it to high it only goes to 30 mph.....we recently cleaned the carb and rebuilt it bc we thought that was that was the problem...but didnt fix it does anyone have any idea what it could be

Smile Grizzly 600

I had the same problem with my 98 grizzly 600 it would rev really high but would only go about 30 mph.
I ended up needing a new wet clutch I also put a new belt and new clutch weights in her now she will hit 60 to 66 mph

I am currently having the same issue. Rev the grizz right up it hardly moves, did you manage to resolve your issue?
