Default 2005 Yamaha Kodiak 450 4X4 recall?

I just got back from the Yamaha dealer where I bought my '05 Kodiak 450. While there, I asked him if he'd heard of a recall on this machine. All they know of currently is a recall on the tie-rods for certain VIN ranges. He checked my VIN and I was in fact one included in the recall.

As soon as he gets the tie-rod part in, I can go get my replacement part. He didn't mention anything about a recall on the full machine. Do you have any more details on what the recall your friend told you was about? Was it the tie-rods, or something else?

At any rate, I've not had any problems whatsoever with my Kodiak. But I'm going to replace the part anyway just in case.

I read on here a couple days back, about a recall on the 05 kodiak. And the recall was the tie-rods. Nothing else was mentioned.

TieRods eh? Humm wonder if that has anything to do with my steering not being straight when holding handlebars straights. I had it to the dealer like a month or two after I had it and they did an alignment but its still never been right. I will have to check with my dealer I guess. Should you get something in the mail about this?

Windmill,

You may or may not receive something from Yamaha in the mail about this. If your VIN is not in the range of the effected machines, I would venture a guess you won't.

You should probably go to, or call, your dealer where you bought your Kodiak and ask them to check the VIN on your 450. They can verify if yours is involved in the recall or not. Better to be proactive, in my opinion anyway.
