For racing the YFZ 450 is going to be your best choice. Sorry Honda fans, but just because Honda pays the best riders to ride their bike doesn't mean it is a better bike.
I used to think the YFZ 450 would be the best ATV for all types of racing, except desert racing, but after last weekend I now think otherwise. I ride a DS 650 with Ohlins shocks and an HMF exhaust, and I am very familiar with that ATV. Last weekend we compared it against a YFZ 450 that was stock with the exception of an HMF exhaust, and airbox mods. We did timed runs over a five mile stretch of wide open fifth gear sand roads, big bermed sandy turns, and a moderate length stretch of tight twisty trail through pinion pines. Even with me being very familiar with the DS 650, and being a first time rider on the YFZ 450, my times were faster on the YFZ 450. My average speed on the YFZ was just shy of 60 mph, by the way, so it surprised me that the YFZ would win at even wide open terrain that should the domain of the DS 650.
The stop watch convinced me, and I now realize that at least in my case I am faster on the YFZ. As of Monday I have a 2005 YFZ LE on order, and will pick it up in a week or so.

Hey 500zuki,These guys with the newer bikes need to know something. If their starter button kicks back as hard as the 500's kick starter,It would probably break their thumb. That's why I got a banshee. Also modifications are endless for a banshee. To me the banshee is my favorite.
