Stump Jumper - Since you are in Knoxville; You can get maps for Royal Blue, Chuck Swan and Catoosa WMA's from The Map Store. It's just off I-640 between Merchants and Broadway - Big blue building. 2' x 3' color maps are $9.95. You can also get them laminated.

The back side has info about the areas, including rules for ATV's. All three have most of their trails marked. Royal blue used Green = open, Red = closed and Yellow = open during hunting season only. Chuck Swan and Catoosa have red no-motorized traffic on the closed trails. RB is open 24/7/365. CS and Catoosa are daylight only. Catoosa is closed from February 1st through March 28th. CS closes in late March/early April for about 5 weeks.

JayBee....I'm making plans to ride somewhere up your way next weekend, June 21, 22, 23. I've read a lot about Coal Creek and it sounds good. I also read your posting on the Catoosa WMA. Which would you recommend for overall riding. I should probably let you know that I'm not into speed or rough riding, I just enjoy riding in the woods. There are currently over 2,100 miles of user created routes where I ride in the Ocala National Forest. Do you know how many miles of trails there are at Coal Creek and/or Catoosa? I rode Tellico last year and really enjoyed it, saw some nice sites. If you haven't ridden there yet, it will be worth your drive to do so. If you ever get the desire to ride some flat lands, sandy trails, come to Central Florida. I'll send you some pictures if you'd like to see where I ride down here, just give me your e-mail address.

Preacherman - If you like woods riding, you'll not be disappointed with CoalCreek, Catoosa or Royal Blue. Of the three, RB is my favorite but that is in part to it's being closest to my home. It's been a couple of years since I went to Catoosa and I haven't been to CC since it's name changed from Windrock and it got more organized. Even though I prefer RB over CC, I've never seen a bad comment about CC from all those out of staters who have traveled a long way to ride it.

Catoosa has more miles of easy trails than the others. CC and RB trails can go from firetrail types that can handle pickups or railers to trails that are just about impossible unless you have a serious quad, a massive winch and suicidal tendencies. I don't know the total miles of trails. Just in CC and RB it's got to be over 1,000. What doesn't often come out in this forum is that even though CC and RB join up with each other, there is also several hundred square miles of ridable land that is owned by old logging firms and strip mine companies. I've been riding RB for six years and still manage to find 'new' trails.

Does anyone have GPS coordinates to places at Coal Creek or Royal Blue, i.e., trail heads, specific sites, etc.?
