Looking for a place to ride and stay in New England
Once a year my friends and I get together to do an off road trip, and this year we're looking for a place to go. Ideally there would be a large house to rent with 7-10 bedrooms and directly accessible trails, but we can trailer to the riding if need be.
We did Southern New Hampshire 2 years ago but were kind of dissapointed with the riding (Mt Monadnock) and Pennsylvania last year which had good riding but was a 15 hour ride for some, so this year we're looking for somewhere a bit closer to home in the Western Massachusetts or upstate New York, or perhaps even somewhere in NH or Maine.
The issue for both Mass and New York (which would be ideal locations) is that the motorcycles and ATV's won't all be registered or owned by people who live in Massachusetts or New York, and won't all be able to get stickers and license plates for New York. As such we're looking for a large piece of private land we can rent for a long weekend, with a large trail systems we can hit up.
We talked about doing the Moose Loop in Maine, but according to their website the large landowners closed it to dirt bikes this year and we really don't want to deal with cops and rangers if we're riding gear that isn't legit.
Where else in New England is there to stay and ride as a big group of mixed ATV's and dirt bikes, some with plates and some without?
Thanks!
Chris

Summer Lodging Rates- Maine Adventure Resort and White Water Rafting Northern Outdoors
Went up there last spring/early summer with a bunch from this forum. Was a decent place except the beds were on the hard side. They do have gas on site and a restaurant. Direct trail access so you can ride right from the cabins. Only other thing was that some of the younger rafting crowd was a bit loud at times but not too bad. From The Forks you can ride up to Greenville by Moosehead Lake, up to Jackman and beyond, or if you have guys that can keep a good pace the loop from The Forks, to Greenville, to Rockwoo, to Jackman, and back to the Forks is a long days ride.
Whether or not you have a bike or quad I believe it has to be registered to ride the ATV trails. Not 100% but believe this to be true.
