One total rebuild about 40000 miles ago two top ends before that and new rings and replaced burnt exhaust valve twice since(due to bad gas).
The trick to getting long life out of a Shovelhead is not to push it hard.I very seldom get over 60 mph and shy away from interstate travel.Also do the maintainance regularly.
Most POlaris rider can relate to this kind of a machine

Thats pretty impressive...I had a friend who couldnt get past about 35K with the bottom end...but he wasnt to good about changing his oil and didnt seem to understand "warm up"..

As much as I enjoy a restored old machine...its pretty cool to see a old original thats just been taken care of..
