Those shootouts are a joke (who gave the most money to dirtwheels this year is what they should call the shootout). I believe every manufacture makes the best quad for a certain person and the needs and abilities of that person. My polaris is the best quad for me (plowing, pulling, hunting) the 800 can am is the best for somebody else (speed w/4wd), the brute is the best for .............blah, blah, blah, blah. What's nice is being able to come here if your new to ATV's and find out what features are best for you and making the decision that way. I still say a good dealership is AT LEAST 1/2 the decision.
When I started this thread I should have pointed out the negatives on the Grizz. Number one would be is it going to burn oil. I owned one of the first Grizzles for about 4mo before it started using oil then they then Yamaha rebuilt it and before the year was over it started using oil again. So in 02 they come out with a all new one and a few of the people that I ride with buy them. In about 12mo they start burning oil and needing valve adjustments.I ride my ATVS hard the average person would not put the kind hard miles on them in four years that I do in one.One other thing they sad that I would have to disagree with is that the AC would not go thought the rocks very well that's the one thing that they do well wright 2V.
opinions are just that. Just because someone was invited to test, or works for a rag, or was picked in a lottery does not mean that they are more qualified than anyone else to judge such a thing. Reviews should be factual reporting of controlled tests. Then let the buyer decide based on the results.
p.s. a good dealership is AT LEAST 1/2 the decision? I haven't been back to the dealer since I bought[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
Dirt Wheels has always placed way too much emphasis on high speed and very easy trail performance. Just look at the test riders and the type of tests they run. The AC and Polaris models take the brunt of their attack. I also cannot consider anything written as truth when they include so many obvious errors. Have they ever even heard of PROOF READING. I don't think so.

It would be nice if they would put more emphasis on difficult trail performance, being as these are the biggiest and baddest 4x4s they are testing in this shootout. Most people (including the Dirt Wheels staff) do the easy stuff though, so that is where they have the test.
I suspect the Grizzly would win by an even bigger margin the more difficult the terrain is though.

Can Am dealers are mighty proud of those Outlanders. My Dad looked at one before he bought his '07 Brute Force, and the Can Am dealer wanted $9K for the Outlander, plus $400 freight, plus another $400 set up charge. It was up to $10 K before even adding taxes. I'm seriously thinking about a Renegade 800 myself, so hopefully the price will come down some.

I think they knocked the AC during the rock climbing because the suspension is too stiff from the factory. This causes the quad to teeter more when navigating uneven ground as the shocks don't give as much as some of the other quads do. It's still a heck of a quad on level ground, and a monster in the mud... as long as you can keep the water otta the belt housing... and it can be a bear to get otta the mud if you ever happen to get it stuck... We had to leave it over night, and use 3 quads to pull it out the next day... Man that was some nasty stuff.... (that kind of mud that has grass on the top of it, but when u step in it, you sink up to yer knee... )
don't believe what they say in the atv magazines, they never say anything bad about any atv cause if they did the atv makers would stop advertizing with them. I may suggest go to www.powersportsnetwork.com for honest ratings and reviews.

but the dealer will tell you not to take a belt drive in water or mud.....sheesh
