Well, we had 2 Dakotas (02 and 04) and both had the same front end problems. Figured, ok full size isn't made in the same place, so lets look at one. Salesman was a total idiot. Showed him an ad that was 3k less than what he had on the lot. Well, they were a few things on his truck that weren't on the other one. That's why it's higher. Fine, can you take them off? Sure. And the price? Didn't change a penny.



Nissan dealer let me drive the truck home so the wife could see it. 100 miles round trip. Made sure it had everything I wanted, and she wanted. And my price was 25k. They sold it to me 24,780. That was without having to haggle over the price.



So to me, it's not so much the truck as the person trying to sell it.



And the guys down at the GMC dealership probably know me because I called GM and complained about their sales tactics. Always nice to have a relative that used to work for GM. I had a 318 in my first car ever, a brand new '79 Ramcharger 4x4. It started so fast you couldn't even hear the starter wind up. I just turned the key and it was running instantly. I totalled it out in 6 months but it was great while it lasted. My van with a 360 4-barrel was a whole different story. It had problems since the first week, if not the first day. I never had anywhere near as many problems with a Chevy. I did have an alternator quit after 6-7 years on the old one. Not much else in 13 consecutive years on two Chevy trucks.

Both of my Chevy trucks were built in Pontiac, Michigan. My best friends Chevy truck was built at the plant he works in, about 3 miles from my house, in Flint, MI. I know a bunch of people at both truck plants and we all used to work together at Grand Blanc, MI.

I know A LOT of people who drive Chevy and GMC trucks and SUVs and only <u>one</u> of them, an Avalanche, was made in Mexico. And it was made from over 70% American and Canadian parts, including an American engine and transmission. My friends build high quality trucks and we're all proud to drive what they build.

If I'm correct, my GMC was built in Canada, and my Ford was also built in Canada. I'd rather by the Nissan Titan built in Tennessee or the Toyota Tundra built in Indiana. That's my own preference. Japanese engineering built by American workers. My favorite combination. And, from what I hear, they treat their employess very well. Well enough that the employess don't want the unions around. Cool...

With all American made vehicles IE Chevy Ford Chrysler if the VIN # begines with a 1 its American made 2 is Canada and 3 is Mexico. Not to say the parts are made there but that is where the final assembly is done.

Not all American VINs start with 1. Some start with 4 or 5 but I've never seen a 5. You got the rest of this right.
