Why do you have to winch it onto the pickup? I drive mine on, and off, it's quick and easy. See the ramps I use in my pics (camera icon). If this isn't feasible in your case for some reason, a headache rack behind the cab would be a good place to anchor a winch cable. Or rig a cable between the forward stake pockets on your pickup and hook onto that. Or bolt a cleat down in the forward part of the pickup bed to hook onto.

You're gonna have to cut some holes in the bed and bolt some metal plates to the frame. Or a metal plate to the frame. Use push pins or cotter pins to connect and disconnect the winch from the base of the bed. If you have a spray in liner, just get the herculiner spray to make it match. This way you recover your bed.

I could see him needing to do it if it's not running. But I think getting a couple of people and pushing it up into the truck would be the easiest thing to do.

I just mean putting it in neutral and pushing it up the ramp.
Provided it's not going into a narrow bed truck like my Ranger. Pushing it up into the bed and over the wheel wells was not an easy thing to do. When I took my ASI class, it was at a Honda facility. For insurance reasons, we weren't allowed to start or ride them anywhere but on the training ground.
