Well, you're gonna wind up at least short an atv if you don't. Not to mention the repair bill for it and anything it hits when it comes off.

Really, the parking brake will not keep an atv in place on a moving trailer.

I agree. Even if it has 4' high side walls and tailgate, I'd still strap it down.

The short version of my 2001 story....

...me and a buddy heading back from a day's ride in North Alabama. We were on the rough as a cob interstate coming through Montgomery, AL when the trailer passed us. Actually came loose from the hitch and passed us in the median. We were able to get stopped about the same time that the State Trooper did. Only thing he had to say was "better be glad you boys had them thangs tied down". We were!

P.S. - No damage whastsoever to trailer or ATVs.

that was my thought exactly but a friend of mine swears that the parking brake will hold them in place. he says they wont bounce high enough to go over th 3 ft sides but i think that if they beat up against them then it will still do damage

I have a 5x8 enclosed trailer and I dont strap my quad. My parking brake doesnt work but it doesnt move backwards in R gear. I drive it up into the front wall of the trailer, put it in R and then im done. Sometimes it moves and is either up against the wall to the left or right when I go to unload it but it doesnt bother me.
If I had an open trailer I would definetaly strap it!!

Mine are in a toy hauler and they're strapped down tighter than Rodney King in Beverly Hills.
