Default Fords newfound twins!

Idunno if there is a topic on this, but Fords new diesels will soon be comin with twin turbo!!! 1 turbo will be a low RPM and the other will run hi RPM. Therefore no lag from stop.(chip will get rid of that) There goes the price's again! I assume Dodge and chev will soon follow suit.

I seen i think on the show "Trucks" Banks came out with a twin turbo kit for the Duramax. Just wonder if some1 has this kit?

It's my understanding the new Navistar/Ford 6.4 is not a twin turbo like the early 90s Japanese supercars (Mitsu 3000GT VR-4/Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo, Nissan 300Z, etc.). The turbos are in series. One turbo exhausts into the intake of the other. Basically two stages. Diesels don't run very high RPM, probably red line at around 4000, maybe a little higher.

I wonder if the manufacturers won't start selling a few different versions of the same engine in the big diesels. Ford will have a twin or a more traditional single turbo option? Anyways, is there any timeframe for a release date on this new engine yet? I don't follow trucks all that much, but always like to dream a bit

They are released.

I'm not sure if they will release varying specs. It's all a HP/Torque number game for the Big Three. Who has the highest output.

I believe International has a couple of power output options for the Navistar motor.

Within 30 minutes of my other post I saw a commercial too. Good to see all the rumors are coming true, hopefully it will be a reliable powertrain right out of the gate.

Someone's got pics of their new PSD on thedieselstop. It's not AS BAD as I originally though. Just the front end is weird with the headlights on the bottom now.

Yeah, the new ford has a compound/sequential twin turbo setup. Hopefully it'll hold up better than the 6.0.

All 3 have revamped diesels to meet 07 emissions. The cummins now has a variable turbo, still single. I think the Isuzu (duramax) is also still a single, but all three will have exhaust gas recirculation systems and particulate filter.

Well, they did bump it up to 6.7L. So I guess they did a "bit" of an overhaul.
