For what it's worth, here is my 2 cents worth.....

We have a 2001 Chev 2500, 6.0L V8, 4.10 rear, Ext Cab, 6 1/2' bed, 4x4, Auto.

We pull a Laredo 27' 5th wheel about 6 times during camping season each year. On highways, I do 70mph with no problem whatsoever. That being said, on long hills, it really craps out. Usually about 30-35mph. Average 8-9mpg towing; 12-14 empty (on a really good day!!)

I am trading in this spring. Have not decided yet on either the 8.1L gas or the Duramax/Allison diesel. I have made a point of talking to every one I can about the Dmax/Ally combo--ALL LOVE IT. Decisions, decisions..........any opinions out there??????
Yea........your nuts if you go with the gasser..........that is the best combo chevy has had EVER with a diesel under the hood! Youll love Dmax/Ally Go test drive one!!!

Now I know this is over the top; but simply said, just go get a simple 5.9 liter in-line six (guess where i'm going with this). All good trucks, but nobody can challenge the pure torque of that little bitty straight six. Heck, our good friends at GMC have to go to a twin torbo to surpase that little bitty straight six. Sounds like a lot of boo for an extra 30hp and 40 FT pounds. Think about it; talk to everyone you know.

Have fun and ride safe ....
Ford has the twin turbo set up on the 6.4 diesel. GM still has the single turbo 6.6 diesel.
And also the 5.9 cummins is being fased out for the 6.7 cummins
