Default ENGINE OIL. 1982 Chevy 4x4

I have a 3/4 ton Chevy and I tow about an 8,000lb trailer when it is loaded! Anyways I am currently running 20-50 Castrol Oil in it! I was wondering if anyone had any other reccomendations for oil. The truck never burns a drop of oil unless you are pulling the trailer and then it is a little amount. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas!

lol 20-50, man that is some thick oil, particular reason your running something that heavy? anyway if your burning oil with that heavy weight of an oil, i 'd say stay with it, if you drop to 10w30 or 5w30, you will gain back some hp and some mpg, but your oil consumption will increase

oh man, I guess I will have to run it for now! You get better mileage if you are running a thinner oil
