Harbor Freight trailer 4 x 8
wBarr: I bought one of those Harbor Freight 4 x 8, and it's a great little trailer. I have a prairie 650 approx weight
w/baskets is 800LBS. Trailer held up good but, you have to remember it's a lite duty trailer. I've hauled wood, dirt
(over 2000 LBS) and it stood up to the weight. The gauge steel on those trailers is 11 but, with my Prairie loaded
it seemed to small for it. I would say that if your hauling a 450cc or less it would be ok.When you start to travel on
rocky, gravel. and large dirt roads the trailer twists and after months or years of this punishment I don't think the
trailer will hold up very long. They come with "Buddy Bearings" which you can grease thru a zerk fitting but, you must grease the bearings frequently to keep up with the demand of a heavy ATV loaded. As far as long hauls you
should be ok you just have to check more often then you would with a heavier trailer like bearings. lug nuts etc.
Also the axels only go part way thru. the 3/4 round steel chanel and there welded in only a few spots. My suggestion is save up a little more money and buy a heavier duty 15' tire 4 or more leafspring w/ a solid axel
and you'll many more years not to mention peace of mind of the trailer not failing.I bought mine at Harbor Freight
for $230.00 Free Shipping had it a year and decided to go with a Big Tex 5x10 w/ fold down ramp for $925.00.
I must say the foldup trailer is really nice if you don't have enough room in your garage because you can wheel it
around. One more thing as far as the wooden side rails they don't come with the trailer you have to purchase them
seperately also the plywood (exterior ply) plus the bolts to put together. Hope this info helps you!
