Default Duramax MPG's

I haul a lot of cattle with my duramax and the thing dont even know Im trying to work it . Short go and stop mileage with or without load or 4x4 in mud 15mpg. Get me a little highway time in and up to 22mpg. Never get a chance to run a tank of fuel with all highway use to know what it can do.
But if you go for the duramax dont leave the allison tranny out its the best. My mpg could be better but I still like to check out what the kids have under the hood. They just dont like it when a diesel can get from one light to the next faster with less noise too.

Thanks for all the straight-up replies. I'm not at all displeased with my '02 Chevy with the 8.1L and Allison transmission, but my truck is a business expense and it's looking more and more like the gas numbers are are tipping things in the diesels favor. Now it's down to finding one and seeing what kind of deal can be done.

On resale at least around here the gas trucks are dinosaurs and not worth much, everything's going diesel. Especially if you sell it with 100K on it, the diesel will be worth way more as it has much life left and the gas would be questionable.

I HAVE A 2001 DURAMAX DUALLY. I PULL A 16FT ENCLOSED TRAILER WITH 3 RACE QUADS AND A LOT OF RACE EQUIPMENT. I GET 11-12 MPG @80MPH WITHOUT TRAILER 17-18MPG. IT WILL PULL ANYTHING AS FAST AS U WANT TO GO. ITS LIKE NIGHT AND DAY BETWEEN THE 8.1 GAS AND THE DURAMAX. WHATEVER 10QUARTS OF OIL AND A FILTER COST.
