Question Handle bar grips & Tires...Suggestions

My name is Chris, & I'm new to this site & to quads all together. I'm very experienced to dirt bikes, but this is my 1st 4 wheeler.

I've got a '06 Polaris Sportsman 450 4x4 & ride anywhere from shady woods trails, to light mud (not up to the tank mud & swamplike mud, maybe 3/4 up on factory 25" tires ), to hard packed & loose dirt with some rocks & creek crosssings along with little asphalt riding to get to trails.

I just bought my quad with only 400 very lite miles on it. It has the stock Carlisle 489 A/T 25x8x12 front & 25x11x12 rear tires on it & have maybe 80%-90% tread left, but I was thinking of some new tires & have read good things about the Maxxis Bighorns, only they don't come in the size of the stockers.
Any Suggestions ????

I also have the stock handlebar grips & I hate them. I've seen & read good things about the Moto Grip Death Grip.... http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/productDetail.do?navType=type&webTypeId=67&navTitl e=Handlebars-Control&webCatId=12&keyword=GRIPS&prodFamilyId=179 06

Any Suggestions or idea ???

Thanks in advance !!!

Put on a set of ODI this spring and have riden all summer and they are great. Easy install with the locking ring.......makes replacement easy too when needing to change.....no glue.

Big Horn's and Spider grips get my vote! I buy most all my stuff at ATV Parts, ATV Tires, Dirt Bike Parts & Motocross Gear | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC as well. Best customer/stocking service on the web!

For grips Spiders or the Ouri watercraft grips are my favs. Can't help you on the tires.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back, just been in a real bad week+ of funk. I had one of my cats pass away and she was one of the family and I've just not been in any mood to do anything at all, including celebrating my B'day the 27th.

I'm trying my best to deal with it & trying to get my mind on other things, but it's hard....very hard.

And then a couple days ago I decide to ride my quad down the street & just try to clear my mind a little & I end up sticking a 1" diameter wooden stob in the center of the right rear tire, so the funk just seemed to continue on........

I've still have the factory Carlisle A/T tires that have about 80%-90% tread left on them, but this flat tire is unfixable in my mind, so I guess the time has come to buy that first set of new aftermarket tires. Thinking 99.9% sure of going with the Maxxis Big Horns, but still have some questions.

I'm going to continue my tire questions in the tire forum. I need some questions answered concerning size/fitment on my '06 Polaris 450 4x4. I need all the info I can get, so I'll be looking for answers in the correct forum.

Thanks so much for the previous replies in this forum !

A buddy of mine put 25" Bighorns on a Rubicon I rode around on in Arizona.

I liked them so well there is now a set on both of my ATV's.

They handle well and are excellent in dry loamy stuff, they wear like iron (some of the guys down there have 8000 miles on rough rock on them), and they do pretty good in mud/sand/snow.

I got mine from Rocky Mountain, and I use a Harbor Freight bead breaker.

PS

Pets are like family to me, too. Sorry about your loss.

I've also found Bighorns to be much tougher than the factory tires that came on the Hondas.
