89 Suzuki 250S question
Hello all,
Due to a messed up back I have not ridden in a couple of years, but after a bunch of physical therapy I am going to start riding again this year. Have enjoyed lurking however!
Today, as I went to change the oil I was tightening down the three nuts that hold the cover to the oil filter cap on, the bottom right one (at about 5:00) wouldn't tighten up. It started to snug up a bit, but then just spun. I couldn't turn it by hand, but I could use my socket to rotate it in both directions and it wouldn't tighten or loosen.
I used a pair of pliers and by pulling backwards while turning it I was able to remove the nut, but the entire threaded post you put the nut on came right out also. I have never had this happen with either my '87 or this '89.
This particular post extended through the case but there isn't anything that you use to snug it down from the back. I don't want to run it with the just the remaining 2 nuts securing the oil filter cover, so I have ground to a halt on s Sunday afternoon.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Viking.

Thanks guys
I appreciate the help.
Yes, the entire stud came out.
I had a guy at work say to JB Weld it in place. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that to an engine, but it did fix a leak in my boat quite well!
I think I'll run it down to a shop this weekend and have them fix it for me. I want to get back out there and the trails are finally drying out.
Thanks again - I am re-doing my '87 this winter so I am sure I'll be asking more questions.

I've had the dealer do stuff like this for me before and they didn't price it too bad so it is worth it to take it to the shop.
Any pics of your '89 LT250s? I haven't seen many other than mine and a couple of others.

89 Suzook 'Sport
Hello Valder,
I don't have any pic's at the moment. I will when my daughter gets home from school - I am not computer saavy at all.
I looked for a long time to find this thing. Finally found it down in PA with the original tires - and maybe the original gas - a couple of years back.
I want to re-do my '87 230 this winter and then re-do the 250, maybe going with a black and yellow scheme like the 70's mx bikes with graphics from the same era. Usual mods. I do like these old Suzooks - not even sure why.
Do you have any pic's of yours? Love to see them!
