Default Rear Carrier Bearings Replacement

My rear axle makes a creaking noise when rolled in neutral. I adjusted chain and checked brakes, and they aren't the culprit. Checked with a local motorcycle shop here and they said it'd be "a few hundred dollars with parts and labor" as long as its a routine job. Said it could be more if things are siezed or any other issues arise.

I then called the Yamaha/Suzuki dealer and they said $250 plus parts and didn't mention maybe more if any issues. My axle isn't wobbling or anything, but it sounds like it is time to change them. Any thoughts?

Do the work yourself. Bearings are only like 20 bucks including seals and like an hours worth of work, maybe 2

problem is I've never done it before so will be hard by myself. I've taken carbs apart and rejetted and little stuff like that, but i've heard this is a trickier task depending on condition of axle in general and having to get bearings in there properly.

Best thing you can do is buy a service manual and have at it. Actually if you are mechanically minded at all you could do this job without a manual.

Try this
