Hello, I just bought a 88 lt 250r Quad Racer..looking it over first thing I noticed it has a 86 head on it ..but it is the correct engine with reed cage and power valve...It doesn't seem to have much compression..Is this the problem? ..Are the head supposed to interchange? .. I would think the cc volume would be different...I have a parts bike with the correct head....Thanks for any help

The parts fiche says that they are the same.

I couldn't believe that they list at $700.

 

Check that fiche again,, model F/G is part# 1111-19a02..this is a non exh valve engine 85-86....Model H-N is part#1111-01c10..for a exh valve engine ..notice the mounting boss on the later head...This is how I found out I had the wrong head....So the question is,,, whats the difference in the two heads other than the mounting boss? since the 85-86 engine had a bigger bore does the head have the same cc's?..I would like to know before I take the head off..If I can't find someone who knows..I will take the head off the parts quad and the head off the running one and cc them both..but thats alot of work
