Default Do I need to put a lift kit on my 2003 Suzuki Vinson 500 Auto?

I have a 2003 Suzuki Vinson 500 Auto. It's completely stock right now minus a winch. The tires are starting to really get down there and I'm not getting near the amount of traction I'd like to be and as for mudding, it's not really an option because I'll most likely get stuck.

I've been living on RockyMountainATVMC.com for about 2 weeks now and I've got about 4 different tires that I'm really interested in. I'm absolutely sure that I want to go with taller and wider tires. Nothing too crazy but instead of the stock 25x10-12 Rears and 25x8-12 Fronts, I want to go with 27x12x12 Rears and 27x10x12 fronts. These will be sitting on new STI HD3 alloys 12x7 2.0+5.0.

I've read that with stock wheels, you can go 1'' up and 1'' out. With aftermarket wheels, 2'' up and 2'' out.

Will I need to purchase a lift kit? (Eg. Hight Lifter Lift Kit for Suzuki Vinson 500 with Tie Rods) Or... Can I just throw these on my ATV and be on my way???

Also, will I have any rubbing issues on either the front or back if I don't put a lift kit on? Eg. Tierods rubbing or fenders?

Thanks so much for all of your help.

I have a 2003 Vinson and I run 27x12x12 rear and 27x10x12 fronts Mud Lite XTRs and did not need a lift. We ride mud, mountains and trails and I have not had any issues.

Thanks PapaHouse. I appreciate your feedback. Worse comes to worse, I have to invest in the lift!

You will lose some low end power with the larger wheels, especially with an automatic.

Avoid the lift kit if you can, your handling will suffer some if you lift it.

Love my 2005 Vinson 5-speed...awesome ride
