Default 88' lt230s help

I am new to the atv world and just picked up a 88' 230.It runs good but was pouring oil out of the exhaust.I took the top end apart and noticed the rocker arms are pretty much worn down. The cam journal may have some light scoring.can the journals be sanded down a little and then plasi gauged? The cylinder looks good and has a wiseco domed piston.I am hoping that all my oil issues are stem seals, etc.Any advice would be appreciated.

sounds like the oil rings you should replace all the rings and valv seals we hade same problem did valve seals first and didnt help so we did rings prblem solved and the rings we took off didnt look bad or worn down at all just make sure you use wiseco rings if wou have that brand piston or they wont work rite and they wont seal

I would also recommend checking the rings out. I recently picked up a quad sport that was pouring oil out the exhaust. The previous owner had bought it like that and had valve stem seals put in in hopes to cure this, but never assembled the engine. I found that someone put std rings on an oversize piston giving like a 1/4" ring gap.

An easy way to check the rings is to take them off the piston and place them in the cylinder and measure the gap. Be sure to check the specks with those stated in a manual, or if you don't have one PM me and I'll get them from mine for you since it covers your bike as well. It's also a good time the measure the cylinder boar while it's apart. Try to match the rings to the piston brand if they need replacing.
