z400 frame help... important
Hey guys I just bought a z400 today and the bike overall looked good condition other then choke cable being broken and chain seeming loose and rear brake rubbing but that i think is minor stuff (right?).
So anyways to the point in the front part of the bike i saw a peice that seems to be like a support bar of some sort but there are zip ties going from that around the a-arm i was wondering if thats custom of some sort or he was hiding something i asked him and he said it was just support nothing was broken so i took the bike as i dont know if he was honest or not. the peice doesnt seem to do anything important because there are holes for screws to go in but no holes in the a-arm for it to continue so...
please help ill post pics of new bike soon

The pictures aren't showing up for me, but I would guess that has more to do with the filters they use on the computers at work.
You may want to look at the microfiche at someplace like Ronnies and check out the front suspension diagrams. I don't remember having anything on my kfx that would have needed a zip tie on it for support. It was all bolted and for a good reason.

I see the pics, but i am not sure why that area would need support? Highly doubt that is a stock part, and the zip tie is around a moving part of the suspension! Generally the frame wouldn't bend there unless maybe it took a hard front end hit. The bumper should be the first thing to go then though. Otherwise hitting stuff with the tires will usually bend a tie rod, break a tie rod end, or just fold the a arm itself.
2 things I get from this pic, 1 the "support" is not firmly secured and likely doing nothing. 2 there may be a history of frame damage I would be concerned with. Are the any areas of cracked paint at the frame, or does it look like it may have been repainted at some point?

After looking and feeling it closely i realized it was plastic rofl, I asked the guy and he said it was a custom skid plate for oil he said... lol, the bike is 2006 and i checked the whole bike over with flashlight it looks in really good shape just some scraped paint by the feet area no biggie.
