Exclamation got lt80 question for mr. lt80

ok ive put all new parts in in the front convertor exept the outer sheeve. installed dg national pipe n yes i know not the best choice of pipes. had top end bore to 51.5mm with prox piston and had it ported. i havent yet had the head shaved yet. wanna get it shaved .040. we took to the 500ft dirt drags two weeks ago the little thing only ran on the best run 28.96mph with an et of 15.532. i saw stock lt80s running just as fast. what do you think seems to be the problem with mine any suggestions??

Welcome to the forums.
1 think sticks out to me..
Porting and no head mod..This tells me that your porting is minimal or just not done correct. When you raise the exhaust port the head needs to be shaved/modded to correct the ratio. So to me, it's a question of what's been done to it.
I'm excited to see Pro-X making oversize pistons.
Anyways, I think I'd gear the machine up and adjust the roller weight to achieve the holeshot. You still have stock gearing,,correct?
Let's go from there.

the intake port was raised 2mm and the exhaust was also raised n widened just cant remember exactly how much i think it was 1.5mm. i knew i needed to have the head shaved we just got pushed for time to make the race.ya im still running the stock gearing on 10 front and 22 rear. was planning on 14 tooth front from sprocket specialist. i myself have been racing for 17yrs. this is the 1st automatic ive ever had built and have no clue what or how to make any type of clutch adjust on this type. any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much

OK good.
I'm not too excited about raising the transfers but 2mm is ok. I raise them basically to point them. I do widen them a bunch.
The exhaust port can be raised another 1.5mm. Then shave the head .040.
14 is a bit big, but doable. If your going to regear, may I suggest going to 428 pitch gearing.
Stock 87-88 LT80's are 428 and it's 12/26. I get those from Suzuki. Steel and cheap.
IMO, a 13/14 in 428 pitch is about all you'll need.
FYI: I use #40 chain as it rolls much easier.
Read up on here about the clutch mods and I'll help.

well since im a mechanic at my local dealership i will be ordering the sprockets tuesday when i go back to work. i looked on here for doin the clutch mod only thing i can find is about removing the 2 rollers. im looking to do the clutch itself. if you can help with giving me the info id appreciate it maybe some pics to go with it. heres my email dragracer5@hotmail.com i think it be a bit easier to communicate. on another note if youd be will after this race season is over to build me a fast one ill by a new cylinder so you can have at it. when ya email me with the instuctions on doin the clutch if ya wouldnt mind giving me the price on doin the works on the lt80 and a break down of what you would be doin and the parts i would need to send id appreciate that also. im looking to get that bike into the 50+mph range if possible. thanks again so much for all your help!!
