z400 overhyped
Im a little confused here about the z400. I have a cousin with a z400 and an uncle with a 400ex. We have raced both of them countless times and even switched bikes every other time and in no way is the z400 faster. There was no place in the dirt the z was faster and this is the 06 with bigger carb rezzie shocks and not to many hours. The ex is a stock 07 with probably 60 hours. Then we raced in the sand and the z was a little faster until a point. The z would accelerate faster then top out at around 62. The 400ex would be a little bit behind when the z topped out but it was in 3rd and still had 2 gears left. So how is the z faster. I just started to realize that the z is way overhyped. Ive even heard people say their stock z is faster than a built yfz or 450r and banshee. Please help me understand how the z is fast.

Lots of factors could affect the results.
Could be the rider. Could be the bike isn't tuned. Could be it got a crappy break in.
But there's something definitely wrong if it's topping out and the ex is still in 3rd gear.
But if they keep running a ex in 3rd gear going 62 mph, two things are gonna happen. First their gonna have the fastest stock ex ever made by Honda, and second their gonna have it blow the motor the fastest.
My guess is there's something seriously wrong with the z you're comparing it to.

Ok sorry i probably didnt explain this well enough while the z400 was in 5th it was way in front but the ex was only in 3rd and gaining quick. And the rider was not it because they swiched bikes and the same result. And the z is well taken care of and was bought new so i would notice if it was running bad
