Older King Quad 300 or 500cc???
Hey,
I have a question regarding the older Suzuki KingQuads. I'm looking at 2000ish ones to buy, and I'm all finding are 300cc. Now I know I'm postive that someone I know bought a 98-99ish orange Suzuki King Quad that has 500cc. I'm just wondering why nothing is coming up on them at all? I can't even find reviews. I did find a picture with google images of a factory picture of a kingquad 500, although it was labeled 300 on the link. I'm just wondering when they made them? I like the fact that they have diff lock and are semi-auto. There aren't too many bikes like that. Any help or input would be appreciated. For some reason I can't find a lot on the web.
Thanks!

I think that's correct....I remember laughing at the original "King Quad" for having less than 300cc's....of course it had a gearbox to beat the band, but it was no "King".
The quadmaster was 500cc, which I think may have evolved into the Vinson, less a front diff locker
King Quad was brought back as a 700 in the early 2000's

Back when the original KQ came out ('90? maybe '91?) it was one of the 'big bores" with 282 cc's. I remember my brother buying the biggest, baddest ute available in the early 90's - a Kawasaki 400.
All old style KQ's are 282cc's and labeled as 300's. The only 500 was the Quadmaster - not a bad quad but not so great either - it only lasted a few years. There never was an old style KQ 500, although there were rumors about one.
While all the multiple gear choices for the KQ were great, they were only needed because the KQ had such a small engine. A newer 500+ cc machine with Hi/Lo and dif lock will give you more power in all conditions than than the Hi/Lo/SuperLo available with the KQ300. Also in the 300, dif lock only worked in the superlo mode (although it could be defeated)

Your talking about the Suzuki Quadrunner F500
Here is the specs on it http://www.powersportsnetwork.com/en...ehicleCode=797
It was short lived and replaced by the 500 Vinsion but still used the same 493cc the current 2010 KQ500 uses.

I think I'm still going to search for an older King Quad I like that I can take it in and out for 4x4, and the semi auto trans. I'm not so worried about the power as I've driven a 250 and it's fine for what i use it for.
edit: heres the bike my friend has just found a picture..lol
