IT'S ALIVE!!!! MUWAHAHAHAHA
I finally got it all back together and it fired right up. So new piston and rings soaked in 2stroke oil a couple days. For now I'm using that other broken tranny part I just filed off the edge of the broken end so it doesn't bite the belt too bad while I got it running and tuned until I get a new/used good one.

Now for carb tuning, it'll start/run fine but if I don't keep just a little throttle down it'll die, with or without choke on and tank in pri or run. Any ideas?
P.S. If you answer to my current prob please tell me how to go about accomplishing it, thanks.

First make sure your throttle cable is adjusted correctly at the top of the carb.It should have non to very little play in it. Just make sure it's not too tight and pulling the slide up.
Then adjust isle with the idle adjustment screw on the carb.
Should do it.

I have a 2000 lt80 and it would not idle at all after setting one winter...I cleaned the carb 3 times ...with no changes ...Thankfully a guy from THIS forum told me to clean the pilot jet (smaller jet) and after doing so the bike idles like a new one...After setting all winter (not draining the gas) it has done it one other time..Might be your problem...Also once the carb is off go to a Fastenal for a allen head bolt for the carb...Really be a help getting them bolts out...Mine has little phillips head bolts so removing is a pain...I read up on the forum that the allen head really made carb removal a snap...I have not replaced mine yet but I will next time I remove carb...Thanks

Thanks guys. All it needed was a a couple turns on the idle screw and it's purring like a kitten. I test drove it today and it runs great. I'm gonna need new tires soon but I used a patch kit on the old ones and they'll hold good enough for now. A couple big thorns were stuck in them. Next I'm getting a helmet, can't drive on post or out in town without one. Thanks again guys for all of your help especially LT80.

Oh what's the best way of finding out what screws I need as there were a bunch missing when I got it and some body parts and the gas tank are pretty much just zip-stripped on?

They are 6mmx1.00 size. The lengths vary.
#5..I just use zip ties.
8-9-10-11 need to be ordered from Zuki.
HMMM WTF?? 2 #10's?..2 #8's??? The #8 & 10 on the front fenders is NOT the #8 and 10 I was refering to.
Front fender:: 10-12-16 are screws but hex head bolts work fine.

I have the grommets on the fuel tank I meant to only circle the bolts on it. The front fender body screws are all the same thread? Then I should be able to goto Lowe's and get some that'll do. If someone can tell me the thread dim, and size of the front and rear tank bolts I can do the same, I'm mostly worried about the tank. Thanks
