85 to 88 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport help.
thanks Big! it's been a fun 4 yr project that turned into an obsession! heck, i'm even getting new red nerf nets custom made to match my graphics colors. i want to look good when i'm kickin' yurass!
i got the fr bumper on ebay, it was an old stock item from some cycle shop. it's made by PRM Inc. google them. they are still making that bumper for @$90 i think.
the 32mm carb is a seriously expensive venture but i'm tellin' ya, this thing will waste much bigger bikes (now i just gotta find a rider!) the biggest problem with the 230 head is that it's the head from the utility motor and the intake port is just a hole that dumps into a boxy little area where the intake valve is located. the mix enters and just swirls around and some of it gets sucked in when the valve opens. no real directional guidance towards the valve. kinda like the difference between a stock air cleaner and ram air induction on a car. my builder filled up that cavity with some sort of aluminum epoxy and then ground out a nice smooth round port right down around the valve, put a multi-angle grind on the seat area of the valve to help a little more with flow. the flange area on the head has to built up to mount a larger intake boot big enough to accept the carb. it's a stock 32mm from Sudco. came with a 200 mainjet and it runs a little rich and i figure once i get it broke in and tuned, it;ll prolly be around 180- 190.
the airbox project/problem turned out well once i found the right little tupperware container tha fit between the rails under the seat. i used central vacuum pipe and fittings for my plumbing. that stuff is super lightweight compared to standard pvc pipe and is plenty strong to take hits from a little gravel & mud. i run a UNI clamp-on w/ outerwears prefilter inside the tupperware and it's working good.
i'm not telling you guys any more
