Is the VIN # on the frame of the bike the same that the one on the engine casing...

Are you thinking about searching for a good 2005 now, or are you still planning to wait for a new 2006?

Not necessarily. But it's the motor that counts.

dshoe, I am in the market for an '06 for one main reason....the job. My company is moving to Hartford, CT by year end and I need to firm up my next job before I buy because I am staying in St. Louis. If that aspect didn't exist I would probably still be waiting for an '06 and it has nothing to do with the '05's with the correct serial # either.

What are you thinking you will do?

Suzuki's letter about the reverse problem didn't say anything about the number's on the moter but only the last #'s of the vin on the frame....anything above 52115956 has the updated gear and ecm...

I heard this also, it was the frame vin #, got it from highlifter.com. I hope we can get a definate answer on this. Aren't the engine and frame vin plates supposed to match like cars?

One thing to consider if you are in the market. The late 05 king with the fixed reverse will still carry a 5 year warranty on the reverse. An 06 king will carry the standard 6 month. With the needle bearing fix Im sure it will never be an issue just thought some would like to know.

I agree that it's the VIN# on the frame and not the motor.

Dude, I pulled the side panel and couldn't find a serial number. There is a sticker on the frame below the dipstick, but it doesn't have a serial #.

razcob, my # is on the other side of the motor, I didn't have to pull any panel off, It sounds like your vin # is the one to go by, without looking on the quad, my dealer wrote it on my sales reciept, I just made the cut, i am above the magic number !!!!!!!!
