Default time frame for timing chain stretching?

Hello all i am looking at getting an 04 Dvx in the crate and i have read a few posts on this forum and others that are saying the timing chains in the Kawasukats have been known to stretch. I was just curious if this really is a very common problem for these bikes and if so.....how long does it take for this stretching to take place..ie, in the first year or longer?

I have an '04 KFX, no problems thus far. The timing chain does have an adjustable tensioner btw.

It will take a long while to stretch a stock chain unless you are running big cams. I'm sure anyone you've talked to that had issues were doing just that. In the case of larger cams, then I would worry and upgrade to a DID 3/4 or 4/5

For stock, I wouldn't worry at all.

I replaced mine last summer. It still had 3 clicks left on the adjuster. I also have hotcams wich weigh more then stock and stiffer valvesprings.
