Default Anyone know anythin bout the Kasea Skyhawk 250?

The Skyhawk 250 is a copy of the Blaster design. It has a great rear disc brake, Yamaha style front and rear suspension and Honda Rebel 250 twin 4 stroke engine. At 1/2 the cost of the Blaster, it is a superior machine.

The engine makes great power and will easily out perform the 300ex. If you want bigger, Wiesco makes a 300cc piston kit and a few companies make pipes. The only reported issue with the 250 is a slight over heat problem on very hot days in sand with paddle tires. If you pipe, and jet the engine, the over heat issue goes away.

The guy that bought the 150 should be mad at himself and his dealer. The 150 was not intended to be a sport model. After people wanted more power the 150 was modified into a 170 that performs well for the intended use.

I have no idea where you get your prices or if they are out the door. Those prices do not reflect my recollection of the market.

Both the Blaster and the Skyhawk have an application. In my book, I will go with the 4 stroke before the 2 stroke.

I never said I expected the Skyhawk 150 to be very sporty, but I did expect it to at least outrun an LT-80! (correct me if I'm mistaken, but that's not exactly a Sport Quad either)
In all fairness to Kasea, the Skyhawks are faster than anything else out there in a couple of categories, namely, falling apart and depreciating!

Yeap, sounds like you are right at home on the LT80 and Blaster. Enjoy.

By the way, anytime you would like to race your Blaster against a Kasea 90, I have $1000 that says you will go home crying.

Raptor720:

This thread started out with a question about Kasea ATV's, I gave a brief summary of my experience with them, hoping it would help a prospective buyer make his decision. You seem to be compelled to twist this into something else, if that's how you get your kicks, go ahead, i'm not biting.

Everything I've read on Kasea says they may be cheap in price, but that they are not cheaply made. No offense to anyone, but I question how much weight to put on a guy that didn't give the dealer a chance to make things right. I currently own a Ford that I consider a lemon but I've had 4 others that were great vehicles. I don't care if it's a Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki; whatever. You run the risk of getting a bad machine. That's why they provide a warranty.

When I got into atv's, the 250 2-strokes were the thing to have and could easily crank out 30 hp. Now atv's cost more than ever and what are we getting? Honda 250ex - 12hp, 300ex - 14 hp, Yamaha Blaster - 14 hp. Even if these are dyno numbers at the rear wheel , you are still only talking about a max of 14 - 16.5 hp. (see the comparison table at http://www.ketchumatv.com/lc.htm) Folks, we are getting ripped off!!!

For another source, see: (http://www.honda.co.uk/atv/range-comparison-table.html) see the following for conversions (http://cactus2000.virtualave.net/uk/service/masstrq.htm). Note these are peak torque numbers but they look similar to what ketchum is telling us.

Came accross this on another forum and thought you might be interested:

"I agree with Raptor. The Skyhawk 250 is awesome. The Magazines don't give a rave review, but, it is definately not slow and it handles great !! How is 65-70MPH...stock !! If you get a UNI filter air box vent kit, it will really help it rev quicker, longer, & gives it more overall power. I have personally raced it against a Blaster, 250EX, and a 300EX. In a 500 foot drag, on pavement, it beat the blaster by 70 feet or so. The other two were way behind the Blaster."

also, regarding horsepower:

"I was told (by Kasea) that the bike has 22 bhp and that is measured at the tire." and "22HP is correct. Stock...It will do 65-70 stock. Add the Big Gun exhaust & air box vent kit & you're looking at 25-26 HP. I think it will be pretty easy to pull 33-35 HP out of this engine & still remain reliable."

Using the same method as before that would equal around 26 hp stock. At 365 lbs. That's a .073 power to weight ratio. (0.06 rear wheel).

In the words of Nissan - Zoom! Zoom! Zoom! Zoom!

Well Squidie,

If you want to get technical, the thread asked about the Kasea 250 and you went and explained that your 150 was under-powered, etc.

I have seen countless youth atvs, as well as the slightly bigger 150/170/250 Skyhawks. Service wise, I have seen one 150 that had a flywheel problem, a couple of 250's that were running hot (jetting and pipe changed that), and a couple of other 150's that were beat on by their owners.
All in all, they are a great machine for the intended purpose. The Blaster is an old 2 stroke design that has long since seen a better day.

Skyhawk 250 has rear disc brake, electric start, dual carbs, better plastic and lighting than the Blaster, choke controls on the handlebars, tons of chrome, etc. Blaster is a kick start, clunky, smokey, historic over priced machine that is perfect for people who just don't know any better.
