whenever this question is asked you are going to have two camps.....1.faster is better and 2.speed isn't that important.

so with that being said i choose the 250ex because of where i ride. i don't go to a track and generally speaking i don't open her up completely. so speed doesn't really matter to me. the shaft drive is great in the water and mud and i still get good speed in the areas where i can open her up. personally having a clutch is overrated. i've riden one with the clutch and while it allows you to do certain things it really isn't that big of an advantage, unless you are racing. i don't race, i ride for fun, so speed in and out of turns isn't a priority to me.

the 300ex is a faster machine. it also has a clutch. out side of that PERSONALLY i don't see many advantages over the 250ex. at least not enough that i would spend an extra $500 - $1000 for one. if you like going pretty quick and like the "total control" the clutch gives you then the 300ex is for you. if you ride tracks, dunes, and places where technical riding isn't an issue but speed is, then the 300ex is a great quad for you.

with all that being said i know i will eventually move up to a 400cc machine, although it won't be a sport quad. i will eventually get a ute and give my 250ex to my son, but until then my 250ex will get me where i need to be and i'll have fun doing it...

just understand that if you are trying to keep up with 400s+ in open areas it isn't going to happen. even a 300 will walk off from you in open areas. in the woods it's about even depending on who's the driver.....

What's everyone think of the Blaster? I thought for sure it would come up more than once(all things concidered:cost, performance, hop-up ability, etc)

The biggest difference between the 250 and 300 ISN'T SPEED......it's SUSPENSION! The 300 has REAL sport quad suspension, where the 250 has tighter suspension, that it inherited from the Recon. I use to bust out huge air on the 300, that would have bottomed the 250 every time.

Ah, the Blaster. The little Blaster is ultralight, and tons of fun. Our new 06 250EX with ITP TrakStar tires on it, is the closest thing I have ridden that has the quick, light handling of a Blaster. Being a 2-stroke, it will need top ends now and then, where the 300 or 250 will run forever.

300EX hands down. Had one, great quad. Better suspension and power, can be improved easily (400EX A arms bolt on) if you want to mess with it later. 250 shaft drive machines are good, but not as good in my book.
