Does anyone know how fast a 400 4x4 Scrambler goes top speed. A friend of mine just bought a Sportsman 400 and claims it will go over 60mph and that he'll spank me on my Scrambler. I have a Aaen top end pipe and silencer, Rad valve and reeds, k+n filter, the roller clutch, and the green primary and blue secondary springs. I haven't raced him yet, but I think I can beat him. Any input would be great!

Thanks,
Colin

when my speedos worked my 96 400 sportsman would run between 60 and 65 and my 96 425 magnum would run around 53-55.That was before a branch took the speedo off the magnum and the cable broke on the sportsman.

This is one of those times were you can make some money. Bet him big! There is no way a 400 4 stroke that weighes more will beat a 400 2 stroke with mods. Is he sure it's s sportsman because if it was an explorer then he may have a chance depending on a few things.

ftwflh,
I don't see how a sportsman 400 will go that fast unless it is a 2 stroke or something is way different than all the others. Were the older sportsman 400's 2 strokes?

I finally had a chance to ride my friends Sportsman 400. It's a 2002, and it is a four stroke. His Sportsman feels sluggish compared to my Scrambler. If his Sportsman can go 60-65 he might beat me top speed(I have no idea how fast my Scrambler will go with my current mods), but I'll take him to school for anything else. I can't wait to race now!
